Matera in Swing: when beauty meets the Swing.

The city of The Sassi will host the first edition of a swing festival where jazz music and dance come together in a unique setting in the world.

Matera in Swing is produced by Vintage Routes Association, already the organizer of one of the most important European festivals of Swing, “Policoro in Swing”, which has helped to make known around the world the beauty of Basilicata.

They are expected for this first edition, some of the foremost  members of the international swing scene. The Europe of the Swing can not wait to be present in the future European Capital of Culture to live a weekend of music and American dance of the 30s and 40s.

The program includes concerts, parties and dance lessons. “Matera in Swing” organizes swing dance lessons dedicated not only to experts, but also to those who are approaching for the first time in this world.

Matera in Swing is the meeting of timeless beauty.

The Schedule

“Matera in Swing” is also “Sassi” in swing.

A beautiful event in a picturesque and fabulous setting, a unique frame for this event.

On Friday, April 7th Sassi ‘n Swing is scheduled: check in, open class, welcome party with social dance and aperitif/dinner, teachers introduction.

On Saturday, 8th we continue with the Lindy hop workshop to get, in the evening, at the highlight event of Matera in Swing: GALA ‘SWING with gourmet dinner at “Villa Schiuma”.

The Gala party is not to be missed: live music with one of the most successful european swing bands , The Hot Sugar Band, the Djset by Mr. Gionny Fortyfive, the great international dancers show, with Mr. Cinastik, fun and formidable host of the evening, and further with the top of the Basilicata region cuisine.

On Sunday, April 9th the event will end with the last lessons of the Lindy hop workshop.
